Aine Loi: Occupational Therapist

Áine is a Specialist Occupational Therapist and Registered Nutritionist.

 

She has worked as an Occupational Therapist in physical and mental health settings since qualifying in 2007.

 

Aine is registered with the Healthcare Professions Council (HCPC) and Association for Nutrition (AFN) governing bodies.

 

Aine specialises in the following areas:

 

Home Assessment for elderly or disabled clients:

Áine will assess your ability to manage everyday tasks. These may include washing and dressing, meal preparation, moving around your home, appropriate seating, or advice on falls prevention.

 

Áine can offer advice on how to increase your independence through grading and adapting tasks. She may also help to organise minor adaptations or equipment in your home (equipment will be charged separately). 

 

General Mental Health for children, adolescents and adults:

Áine has spent much of her career working in mental health settings across the NHS, charity and private sectors. She has experience working with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, agoraphobia, isolation and loneliness.

 

Occupational therapy focuses on enabling people to improve their quality of life and involves supporting people to manage their self-care, work/study or leisure and social activities. 

 

Áine can support clients to reintegrate back into daily life and achieve their goals. Some examples of this may include anxiety management techniques, creating and maintaining a balanced structure and routine, supporting with being able to manage shopping or domestic tasks.

 

She may also support you with returning to work or school after some time off, managing your finances or applying for benefits.

 

Eating Disorders or disordered eating in adolescents or adults:

Áine has worked in the field of eating disorders since 2015 and completed a Masters degree in Eating Disorders and Clinical Nutrition at UCL in 2020. 


Áine works with young people and adults using a holistic, client-centred approach which focuses on enabling independence and improving quality of life. Áine can work with clients to support them with managing their everyday life, including self-care, weight restoration, body image, meal planning, supermarket shopping, cooking and eating a balanced meal, and reducing eating disorder behaviours. She can also provide support and advice for reintegration into leisure activities or balanced exercise (if appropriate). Áine can also work with people to help with creating and maintaining a balanced structure and routine, preparing for university, returning to/starting work, or managing finances (including advice on benefit applications). 


Áine also offers support and skills-based training to families, partners and carers looking after a loved one with an eating disorder. She provides psycho-education and practical tips to support with carers’ well-being, whilst promoting recovery in the home environment
